The pattern
I found things, build them until they stand, then hand them over.
The pattern is the machine, run at city scale. The pattern has five steps: futurecast the outcomes. Publish the scoreboard. Break the delta into missions. Seed ventures against them. Hand it over — stewards installed, founder stepped back. I have run the handover more than ten times at company scale, and the work clusters into themes. Money and its rails: a digital bank, a national stablecoin, a cross-border complementary currency, settlement infrastructure for stablecoins, a digital asset exchange, nationwide airdrop infrastructure. Venture infrastructure: a family office, a venture studio, a regulated venture fund, a corporate service provider, a talent provider. Human development at national scale: governance for countrywide youth programmes, a digital reputation marketplace for unemployed youth. And the occasional piece of hardware for hard places: a motorised bicycle for rural Africa — alongside a long run of blockchain, B2B, and data ventures, across four jurisdictions. Some I still operate; most now belong to the people who run them, which is why none are named here.
Instance: Bermuda
Bermuda 2050 is the first run of the pattern at city scale: a futurecast of ten outcomes worth building, a public scoreboard, and a venture pipeline against the delta — built to be handed to Bermudian stakeholders, where it belongs. An island is the ideal test environment: small enough to see the whole system, contained enough that failure teaches cheaply, real enough — regulator, banks, politics — that success means something.
The pattern is the export. Bermuda was first. It is designed to run again.
